Bonita Louise Broeckert (77) passed away peacefully on September 10th, 2023, with her family by her side.
Bonnie was born March 23, 1946, to Marvin and Sophie Ziarnik. She grew up in Manitowoc, WI with her two siblings Sharon and Kenny as well as with her many aunts, uncles, and cousins who lived nearby.
She attended Lincoln High School (class of 1964), where she developed many lifelong friendships. She enjoyed her time working at the Manitowoc Police Department. It was also in Manitowoc that she met and married William “Bill” Broeckert; and where they had their two beautiful daughters, Jill and Sara.
After a short time living in Stevens Point, WI, where Bonnie worked at the university, she moved to Rochester, MN. She began working at Mayo Clinic and quickly made lasting friendships. When Bonnie retired, she moved to Sun City West, AZ where she developed many close friendships.
Bonnie enjoyed shopping, decorating, hanging out by the pool, and traveling. Memorable trips with friends and family were to Jamaica, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Alaska, and Tahiti.
Bonnie will be remembered for all the heart she shared with her friends and family. She truly loved each of them- and if you knew her, you knew it. She will be missed dearly. The texts, phone calls, letters, cards, and visits Bonnie received during the final months of her life were a tremendous source of joy, peace, and comfort to her.
Bonnie is survived by husband, William Broeckert; daughter, Jill (John) Wood; daughter, Sara (Brad) Neseth; granddaughters, Kaitlyn and Hiley Neseth; sister, Sharon McConnell; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other assorted family and many caring friends.
She was predeceased by mother and father, Marvin and Sophie (Pitrowski) Ziarnik; father and mother-in-law, Joe and Josephine (Heim) Broeckert; brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Nancy (Nichols) Ziarnik.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM Thursday, September 28, 2023, at St. Francis of Assisi - Marshal Street, 1114 S. 21st St, Manitowoc, WI. The Rev. Jason Blahnik will celebrate the Mass of Christian Burial followed by entombment of Bonnie’s cremated remains at The Calvary Mausoleum. Relatives and friends may call at the church on Thursday from 9:00 AM until the time of services at 10:00 AM. Friends and family are then welcome to join a celebration of life at City Limits Bar and Banquet Hall (Bil-Mar). For those unable to attend in Manitowoc, there will be celebration of life events in Rochester, MN and Sun City West, AZ.
