Audrey Eileen Lewis took her first breath of celestial air in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 3rd, 2025.
Her last few weeks on earth found her surrounded by family and several friends, as they shared their love and prayers with her. By her side, not only in her final days, but through their entire 64 years of marriage was her husband, James. He made that promise to her on December 17, 1960 and kept his word to stay with her until they were parted by death.
Audrey left behind incredible memories to those who shared in her laughter, her hospitality, and her faith. For 38 years she served several hospitals as a nurse who innovated and excelled in postoperative day surgery care. She served with joy her church, her family and friends, and even strangers.
Her quick wit, cooking skills and love for her Savior and her family were the very definition of her life.
Audrey was born to Ralph and Hannah Thompson on October 16, 1938. She met and fell in love with James, and together they had two children, Tony Lewis and Jodi Engen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Dewey; and his wife, Geraldine Thompson. Also, her sister-in-law, Sherry Lewis.
She is survived by her husband, James Lewis; children, Tony (Trudy) Lewis and Jodi (Jon) Engen; her grandchildren, Alex and Gretchen Merritt, Austin and Emily Merritt, Emily and Mitch Johnson, and Ashlee Belisle; nine great-grandchildren, Jayda Belisle, Jordan Belisle, Josie Pierce, Everly Merritt, Reese Merritt, Crew Merritt, Shelby Hager, Colton Johnson, and Addie Johnson; her brother-in-law, William Lewis; and her nieces and nephews who loved her as though they were her own, Debbie, Craig, Kelli, Jon, and Shane; and finally, her fur babies, Ole and Lena.
Audrey's Life Celebration service will be held at Restoration Church, 5th and Polk in Anoka, MN, on Thursday, May 29th at 11 AM. Visitation will start at 10 AM with a lunch to follow immediately after the service.
Interment will take place later this summer at Salem Cemetery in Roseau County.
In lieu of flowers, the family would simply ask that you smile, reflect, and thank God that Audrey was a part of our world and our lives.
