Arnold "Arnski" Thomas Sanetra, age 85 of Minneapolis, Minnesota passed away on Wednesday, March 26, 2025. He was born September 12, 1939, in Columbia Heights, the son of Anthony and Nellie (Wasik) Sanetra.
Arnie grew up and lived his entire life as a proud Northeast Minneapolis resident. In 1956, at the age of 17, Arnie served in the Navy on the destroyer USS Lyman K Swensen as a Surface Sonar Watchstander until 1962 when he was honorably discharged. Later he was employed by Honeywell for 34 years. Arnie was a retired member of the BPM Motorcycle Club where he met many of his lifelong friends. He lived a unique life which included decorating his “museum like” house with an eclectic mix of medieval and Polish heritage furnishings.
Arnie was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Nellie; wife, Loretta; brothers, Donald and Thomas; club brother, Keith Joyce; and far too many friends.
Arnie is survived by his brother, Ronald (Nancy); his first wife, Janet; many nieces and nephews; special friends, Eunice, Michael John, Juicer Bob, Patrick O’Leary, Chooch, Jim Craig; other extended family and friends; and Rylie his cat.
His family is forever grateful for the compassionate care provided by Optage Hospice and “Nurse Julie” as well as his very special neighbors and honorary family members, Clarence and Ruth Purkapile, for their assistance in supporting Arnie’s wish to remain in his home for his final days.
We will be trading stories and raising a glass of Peppermint Schnapps in Arnie’s honor on Friday, April 11, 2025 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM at Sunset Grill in Spring Lake Park, MN.
