It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Ms. Ann Gwendolyn Dotstry, who graced our lives as the beloved daughter of Willie Fern Summers and James Robert Dotstry. Born on June 17, 1936, at 12:20 AM in Memphis, TN, Ann spent her childhood surrounded by her loving siblings, Dorothy Mae Dotstry and James Robert Dotstry Jr., both of whom preceded her in leaving this earth.
In 1945, the family moved from Memphis TN, to Chicago, IL, where Ann flourished, graduating from Hyde Park High School. Her passion for helping others led her to nursing school, where she proudly became a registered nurse. After a brief period in healthcare, Ann shifted her career path and found her niche as a payroll accountant at Republic Moldings Steel, where she dedicated over a decade of her life.
Ann will be remembered for her loving kindness, fierce determination, and unparalleled grace. A devoted woman of faith, she gave her life to God at an early age. Ann was an active member of New Covenant Missionary Church in Chicago, IL, and later reaffirmed her commitment through baptism at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Minneapolis, MN.
On March 30, 2025, at 9:20 AM, Ann peacefully departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of love and compassion. She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Fern Marsh, and son-in-law, Caesarei Marsh; her daughter Cynthia Denise Eason; her son Kevin Anthony Dotson, and daughter-in-law LaCresha Dotson; and her daughter Kimberley Vanessa Dotstry. Ann was also the proud grandmother of Louis Brooks, Nicole Bolden, Ebony Tate, Terrance Hayes, Patrick Adams Jr., Autumn Adams, Brandon Domino, Bricari Smith, BreKayla Smith, and Jordan Dotson. She delighted in the joy of her sixteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, along with a host of other relatives and friends who cherished her deeply.
As we come together to celebrate her life, we honor the beautiful impact she made on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
