Bill was born in Sand Lake, Michigan on October 4th, 1937. He is survived by his wife Betty Joyce Dietzel, his deceased wife Sharon Lee Schroeder, his sister Janine Stellick and husband Ron Stellick, Kathleen Dietzel, Karen Cox, TW Cox, Mr. & Mrs. John Dietzel of Aiken S.C., eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Bill was a goal setter who met those goals by graduating from University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan with a Phd in education. He then went into teaching and administration for Genesee County, Michigan. After retiring from his career in education Bill tried some real estate sales. After 9/11 Bill began going to Florida during the winter months. In 2008 he moved to Florida permanently making his home in Lighthouse Bay in the Brooks. He also started teaching writing classes through the Renaissance Academy of Florida Gulf Coast University. Bill wrote three books, “Common Sense Lifestyle for the 21st Century, “The Issues of American Excess”, and “Crisis in Common Sense Sense, A Nation in Excess”.
His new retired life enabled him to travel extensively around the world going to Kiev, Ukraine, Germany, Italy, Russia and Greece. Bill also took up pedal biking during his Florida years, accumulating thousands of miles. During his years of biking he made many new friends with his upbeat personality. People loved discussing most anything with Bill, especially the sorry state of the present world.
Often we hear the comment of how many years someone had on this earth. The real question for Bill was always, “What am I going to accomplish on this earth that will be in honor and glory to God?” He lived by that high standard of total faith in God and tried never to judge anyone unfairly.
It is with great sorrow that we say good-bye to a man who believed in God and made a very positive difference in the world. May he rest in God’s peace.
