William “Bill” Bacon died from natural causes on April 9, 2019 in Sarasota, FL. Raised in upstate New York, he attended Harvard University before starting his 33 years of service with the U.S. Air Force. He was decorated for Meritorious Service by the Air Force and twice by the Department of Defense. A graduate of Syracuse University, Bill speaks several languages and was stationed variously in Finland, Germany, Turkey, Japan and Guam. He retired as a CMSgt, then served 7 years with the National Security Agency.
Bill and his wife, Bobbie, moved to Sarasota, FL in 1992, residing in Palmer Ranch and Sarasota Bay Village. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, travel and theatre with his wife, crossword puzzles, photography, writing, music and being with family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved children, son Michael Plaster and his wife JoAnn (Wilkins) of Port Saint Lucie, FL, and daughter Sherry Ruth (Plaster) Carter and her husband Stanley Lloyd of Murphy, NC; brother Lawrence Bacon Morse of Andover, MA and a host of caring nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bill was a devoted and loving husband, father and brother. He is treasured by his family and remembered fondly by all.
He is preceded in passing by his wife of 64 years, Bobbie Ruth (Gray) Bacon on September 28, 2018, sister Jacqueline E. (Bacon) Lewis of Santa Fe, NM and brother Walter W. Bacon of Hopewell Junction New York.
Services will be held at 11:30 AM on May 17, 2019, at Sarasota National Cemetery.
