Ward ( Bruce ) Brookshire passed away peacefully April 20, 2018 at the Venice Hospice House with his wife of nearly 50 years by his side. Bruce was born in Youngstown, Ohio March 29, 1941. He was the son of Monroe Fleming Brookshire and Lois Unger Brookshire. He graduated from Kent State University with a Business degree majoring in Marketing. Bruce was a member of the Army Reserves 348th engineering company pipeline construction and received an honorable discharge November 13, 1969.
He married Sandra Whittle in June of 1968. After working 28 years at the G.M Lordstown, Ohio car plant he retired and moved to Venice, Florida. He would tell anyone that would listen that the 2 best things he did in his life was marry Sandra and move to Florida. He was a humble man. He was intelligent, fun loving and enjoyed people. He enjoyed dancing at the South Venice Yacht Club, going to theater performances and making Sandra happy. He ran a golf group. The Brookshire Group for 14 years when health issues made him give it up.
Besides his wife, Sandra he leaves a sister, Diane Bodnark of Lexington, S.C. Nieces: Allison Martin of Lexington, S.C. and Amy Hudgins of Ga. Nephew: Todd Bodnark, N.C Sister in law: Midge Bennett of Ocean City, Md. Nieces: Bridgette Hearne of Fredrick, Md, Shanda Whittle of Royal Palm Beach, Mallie Adams of Bellevue, Ohio, Courtney Brink of Tiffin, Ohio, Kate Kennedy of Ellsworth, Maine, and Nicole Bennett decease.
