Vera Dawn Guynup Bush 71 Heaven has gained a beautiful angel! Vera Dawn Bush, age 71 died peacefully on Tuesday, November 15th, 2016 with her daughter Cheryl and niece Tina by her side. Dawn was born to the late Harold Donivan Sr. and Lillian Collins on March 16th, 1945 in Plattsburgh, NY. Dawn had many jobs over the years to provide for her family. Waitressing became second nature to her. All who were served by her were met with a smile and her kindness. She then pursued a career in nursing and graduated from Thompsons School of practical nurses in Battleboro VT. Dawn so loved being a nurse and taking care of people until she retired. Dawn enjoyed playing bingo and the slot machines. She loved her trips with her family and friends to Foxwoods and Akwesasne Mohawk Casino. Her favorite slots were the Wizard of Oz and anything with a bonus. Dawn was one of the luckiest people. She always won! She had many adventures over the years with her brothers and sisters in laws. She was the beloved wife of the late Sterling Bush, the mother of the late Jene Guynup and the late brother in law Alfred Deon Jr. Dawn is survived by her daughter Cheryl (Duane) Salisbury of Hoosick Falls, NY, her sisters, Nancy (Charles) Fischer of Lake Luzerne, NY, Donna (Charlie) Maynard of Hinsdale, NH, Penny (Brad) Temple of Putney, VT her brother Harold (Joy) Donivan Jr. and her sister in law Sherri Donivan of Hinsdale, NH. She was the loving grandmother of Justin, Coty and DJ. Dawn was also survived by her step sons Eric Bush of Hinsdale, NH, Stephen (Brianne) Bush of Havre De Grace, MD and her brother-in-law’s Steward (Doreen) Bush of North Port, FL and Schuyler (Karen) Bush of North Port, FL. Dawn has a host of nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews, all who will miss her smile and sense of humor. She made many wonderful friends over the years, all who loved her dearly. Dawn was a Deaconess of the North Port Community United Church of Christ and loved helping wherever she was needed. In the summers she worked with the kids in Bible study. She was a member of the ladies Auxiliary AMVETS, Fraternal order of the Eagles and “Just us Girls” club. A Celebration of Life will be held at the North Port Community United Church of Christ, 3450 South Biscayne Drive, North Port, FL on Saturday, January 7th 2017 at 11:00am. There will be a Celebration of Life in New York for her upstate family and friends. The date is to be determined. Cheryl would like to thank all of the staff who cared for her mom during her time at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte, FL. A special Thanks to Pastor Attila Szemesi for his time and prayers with Dawn at her bedside. Cheryl would also like to thank Dawn’s friends for visiting her mom while she was in the hospital.
