

Ruth Evelyn Thompson (Martz), 71, of Fort Myers, Florida, peacefully passed away on May 12, 2026 after a battle with cancer. Born on July 25, 1954 to Charles “Jack” and Betty Thompson (Malasky) of Brackway, PA.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Kathy Pitman and previous husband, Harry “Topper” Martz.
She is survived by her siblings, Bill (Pam) Thompson, Maine; Bob (Val) Thompson (New York), Carolyn (Karen Brown) Thompson (Florida), Anita (Bob) Richard (West Virginia). Also surviving are her children Lizz (Chris Shaw) Santos of Florida, Jamie (Bob) Isenberg of Pennsylvania, and Charles (Beth) Martz of Florida. Her loving grandchildren, Mackenzye (Dan) Santos-Cora, Lily Isenberg, Emma (Max) Isenberg, Carter Santos, Addy Isenberg, Faith Martz, and Hope Martz, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
While attending Brockway Area High School, she participated in Marching Band, Majorettes, Choir and intramural sports. After graduating High School, she toured the Holy Lands, was married and started her family. Ruth was a creative and active individual. She loved walking, biking, and teaching aerobics. She also taught quilting classes at all levels. She loved flowers and putting together centerpieces for all occasions.
Ruth and her family restored a farmhouse in Brockway, and turned it into a successful Bed & Breakfast, called Humphrey’s Homestead. She loved meeting new people and developing life-long friendships through this successful endeavor.
In 2006, she moved to Fort Myers, Florida, where she began the next chapter of her life. She worked at a beautiful resort where she showcased her creative talents running a floral store on Captiva Island, She also began teaching quilting classes to those in her community. After retirement, she formed amazing friendships with her community and church. She also loved spending Sunday afternoon’s watching golf or football with her best friend, Bill Miksich.
Ruth’s faith in Jesus helped her through all seasons of her life. She was a member of Fort Myers Community Church and was on a mission to share the goodness of God.
Ruth will be remembered for her kindness, creativity, patience, and faith. However Ruth’s family was the most important part of her life. She loved and kept them close. Words can’t describe the void that is left in so many lives. Ruth will be remembered and missed by all.
