Robert was the oldest son, and was preceded in death by his parents Joseph Meridith Stauffer and Dorothy Adamson Stauffer; his brother, Richard; and son-law, Charles Carson. He is survived by the love of his life of 68 years, Lois Jones Stauffer; his sons, Rev. Dr. Mark Stauffer (Lynne) of Parkesburg, PA; Thomas (Kathy), of Henderson, NV; and daughter Nancy Carson of Colorado Springs, CO. His grandchildren: Mark Alan Stauffer, Jr. (Amanda), and great-granddaughter Kaili; Cassandra Brookes (Scott), and great-grandson Bryson; and grandchildren Nicole, Ashli, and Adrienne and their children; sister JoAnne Donnelly of Rehoboth Beach, DE, and several nieces and nephews and their children.
Robert served in the U.S Navy out of high school as an airplane electrician, and was awarded the Navy Occupation Service Medal. Upon discharge from the Navy, Bob became employed by the Leeds and Northrup Corporation where he worked as an electronics supervisor for 41 years until retirement.
Bob was a simple, quiet, humble family man who cared for the needs of others before himself. His faith in God always shined through. Growing up in the church, he met Lois through the church youth group and he instilled his faith in Jesus in his family and others. He loved the old hymns of the church and sang them with passion in the church choirs where he attended every Sunday.
Bob was an avid bowler, golfer, and gardener and RVer. He and Lois loved to camp and travel. They were members of the Norristown area Nor-Con Forgers, RVing throughout Pennsylvania, the United States, and Canada. They sailed on several cruises throughout the Caribbean and Bermuda. Summers for Bob and his family also took him to Ocean City, New Jersey where his love for the ocean, the sands, and the boardwalk were in his blood. Bob was also an avid sports fan. He loved the Phillies and Eagles, never missing a game. His huge baseball card collection is a testament to that passion.
Upon retirement, Bob and Lois relocated to Sarasota, Fl where they were active in the Sarasota Lakes RV Resort where they lived. Bob and Lois volunteered and organized many of the activities, such as “Hot Dog Days”, the annual Spaghetti Supper, and bi-weekly golf outings. He loved eating out and playing card and board games with his friends. But when the years got on, you could find Bob relaxing in his recliner solving his Sudoku puzzles, reading, or collecting soda can tops for the local Shriners organization. He was fondly known as “Pop-Top Bob.” Bob also cared for many of the homes of the park’s snow birds in his spare time.
The battle is over for Bob now. And having “pursued righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness,” Bob has “fought the good fight of faith and has now taken hold of the eternal life to which he was called.”
A service of celebration will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 in the community hall at the Sarasota Lakes RV Resort, 1674 University Parkway, Sarasota, Florida, beginning at 11:00 a.m. A family committal service will be held this summer at the Valley Forge Memorial Gardens, King of Prussia, Pennsylvania.
