Care under the care of Hope Hospice after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Born March 11, 1937 in Boston, Massachusetts, he had lived in Fort Myers since 1989. A 1958 graduate of Harvard College, he also received an M.B.A. degree from Columbia University after service as an officer in the United States Army.
Mr. Neville was a management consultant who operated his own firm. He concentrated in recent years on providing litigation support to attorneys trying cases in the automotive and related industries. He retired in 2012. He was an avid bicyclist and swimmer; was Past President of the Harvard Club of Lee County and served for many years as a volunteer Guardian Ad Litem in the 20th Judicial Circuit of Florida. He also served as a Commissioner of the South Trail Fire District from 1999 to 2015 and was Chairman of the Board of Commissioners from 2006 to 2015.
Richard is survived by his wife, Donna McHugh Neville; his daughter, Lisa Neville, grandsons Thomas Richard Beutler and Charles Beutler and son-in-law, Tom Beutler all of Fort Myers, FL. He is also survived by his brother, David J. Neville of San Francisco, CA and cousins, Elinor Wood of Dunedin, FL and Edwin “Skeeter” Gallagher of Bangkok, Thailand. He was preceded in death by one cousin, Robert Garrity of Tomball, TX.
Funeral services are pending and will be held at a later date.
The family suggests Memorial Contributions in his memory be made to the Salvation Army in furtherance of its work for disadvantaged and addicted people.
