Pol Phillip (Flip) Plancon, beloved son of Ruth Carew Plancon and William Kenneth Plancon, Sr. of Fairfield Connecticut passed peacefully on November 10, 2017 with family at his side in Fort Meyers, Florida at the age of 70 after an extended illness. Born in Bridgeport on May 19, 1947, Flip was a long-time resident of Fairfield, Connecticut. He was baptized by the Reverend David Hatch at the First Congregational Church in Fairfield CT. He was graduated from Grasmere Elementary School in 1960 and later attended Shawnee Mission High School in Kansas, graduating in 1964. He received an Associate’s Degree in accounting from The University of Bridgeport, CT. He served in the Army National Guard, 1966-1967. Flip was a professional musician with “Safe As Milk” which performed extensively throughout Southern Connecticut and New York during the latter 60’s and 70’s. He was proud to have been the original drummer in the #1 Hit “Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye” recorded by “Steam”. He also enjoyed many years in automotive sales, finance and dealer management. From 1998 to the present he enjoyed being part of Basement Systems’ Dealer Support Team and established and managed the New Construction Division as well as a Finance Division called Morehouse, Seymour CT. Flip has been a “Friend of Bill’s” for 32 years and would end his share with “I can’t wait to see what happens next.” Flip is survived by his wife of 16 years, Gale Sutton Morrison Plancon; his children Damon Carew Plancon (Leticia and 4 grandchildren) of Poplar Grove, Illinois and Meaghan Plancon Rohrbacher (Richard and 3 grandchildren) of Phoenix, Arizona. Siblings: Diane Carew Plancon Wyckoff of Bridgeport, Connecticut and William Kenneth Plancon, Jr., (Marlene) of Calhoun, Georgia and nieces and nephews. Grandchildren Anna, Evelyn, David & Sophia of Illinois as well as Marisa, Madison & Max of Arizona. Nieces and Nephews include: Sara Wyckoff of Fairfield, Illinois, Peter Kempton Wyckoff of Stoneham, Mass., Anne Wyckoff Schelmetic of Fairfield, CT., Christopher Carson of Brewster, Mass., Sarah Plancon Green of lawrenceville, Georgia, Cherise Plancon Milburn of New Bern, North Carolina, Jason A. Plancon of Atlanta, Georgia. Flip was a romantic who enjoyed writing poems for special occasions. For their engagement he arranged for an airplane to circle the Nags Head Pier on the Outer Banks on July 26, 2000 that towed a banner that said “Will You Marry Me Gale?” They were married by the Captain aboard the Starlight Majesty in Clearwater Beach on Valentine’s Day 2001. Attendees included Gale’s mother, Shirley Sutton Morrison; two sisters Sandra Miller Geller & husband William; Nancy Kay Morrison Farwell & husband Mark Olander; brother John Richard Morrison III and his wife Arlene Fernandez Morrison and their Flower Girl was Julia Rae Morrison; cousins of the Bride and special friends also attended. Both he and Gale were avid motorcyclists who enjoyed those special “Road Trips’ with friends and co-workers to places like East Dorset, VT or Providence, Rhode Island, The Blue Ridge Mountains including The Tail of the Dragon which has 311 switchback turns in 7 miles! He would go for what he called a “Serenity Ride” during the week in an effort to get acclimated to Lehigh Acres where they have lived since December 2016. He was loved by many and is already missed. Celebration of Life will be held on December 9, 2017 at 1:30 pm at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 705 E.
