Mary Morris Kenney of Pelican Bay in Naples, Florida was born in Waterbury, Connecticut on March 3, 1929. She was the daughter of George S. and Anastasia (Maistrelis) Morris, Greek immigrants from Plomari on the island of Lesvos. The family subsequently moved to New York City and then Miami, Florida. After graduating from Miami High School in 1947, she initially pursued a career in the restaurant and bar business, married and had two children. She eventually became a real estate agent and practiced that profession for more than 30 years. She always loved living near water, whether it was in Miami, Rhode Island, Boston, or Naples. She also enjoyed movies and the theater all her life and would watch TCM for hours to see some of her old favorites. Once she learned the game in the 1960s, she avidly played bridge for more than 50 years. An accomplished cook at home, she carried on her Greek heritage through cuisine. Nevertheless, she loved to dine out on fine food, especially French or Italian. She is survived by her sister Georgia George of New York City, son Robert Gerard of Kamuela, Hawai’i and daughter Mary Ann Bracy of Naples. According to her wishes, Mary will be cremated by the Neptune Society and her ashes scattered at sea by her family and friends.
