Marshall Gardner Lindsay, Jr., age 89, of Fort Myers, FL and Erie, PA passed away on April 10, 2023 at his home in Florida. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on January 29, 1934, son of the late Marshall G. and Alice E. (Fischer) Lindsay.
Marshall was a graduate of South Hills High School. He proudly served in the US Army and the Pennsylvania National Guard. Marshall had a long career in the insurance industry which began at the Insurance Company of North America in 1952 and ended in 1996 when he sold the insurance agency he founded in Erie, PA. He enjoyed retirement ever since. Marshall held designations such as Licensed Property and Casualty Agent/Broker and was a Certified Insurance Counselor since 1980.
Marshall is survived by wife of 44 years, Suzanne Eason Lindsay, and his children, Beth Lindsay Burnside and David Lindsay, as well as grandchildren Nicholas Burnside and Alexandra Burnside, brother Brian Lindsay (Sharyn), and sister Mary Alice Edwards (Gary). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Ronald Lindsay.
Marshall was a passionate boater and fisherman and was a member of the US Power Squadron. He was a long-time member of the Presque Isle Rotary, Erie Downriggers, and was a Paul Harris Fellow of the Zem Zem Shriners as well as a 32nd Degree Freemason. Once retired, he and Sue travelled the country in their RV and split their time between PA and FL. Marshall was also an avid reader and loved imparting his special brand of wisdom to his family.
Services for Marshall will be held privately by his family. Memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army, 1022 Liberty St., Erie, PA 16502 or the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 1645 W. 8th St., Erie, PA 16505.
