On August 1, 2018, Marion Jacob became an angel. She lived with her loving daughter and caretaker Joanne (Jacob) Ginocchio, son in-law Pete Ginocchio and her loving grand dogs, Louie, Jake, Otis and Jax.
Marion was brought into this world on 2/03/1922 in Newark NJ and raised by her loving parents Laura (Tobelman) Koehler and Edward Charles Koehler.
It was love at first sight when she met Joseph Martin Jacob. Little did she know that they soon would be married.
Joe and Marion owned a neighborhood tavern called ABC Tap in Chicago, Illinois.
Joseph passed away in 1975. He wasn’t totally gone, he left Marion with 4 children, John Edward Jacob, Thomas Joseph Jacob, Dennis Scott Jacob and Joanne Marion Jacob (Ginocchio).
Marion was preceded in death by her son John at age 41. She was a strong lady, picked up the pieces, gathered her energy and worked various jobs to support her family.
She overcame many health challenges along the years and lost her ability to get around freely. She didn’t worry, she had a very loving daughter and so many great caring friends who knew that she was a beautiful person full of love, kindness and giving.
She relocated to Florida in October of 2005 along with her daughter Joanne and son-In-Law Pete. She wanted to maintain her independence and insisted she have her own place to live. She moved into an apartment where she lived until 2008. At that time, she could no longer care for herself and moved in with her daughter and son-in-law.
Joanne did everything possible to keep her mom comfortable, from cooking to taking her where ever she needed to go. Joanne not only lost her mother but her best friend.
If you knew Marion, you knew she was famous for her corny jokes. The one that she told the most was: Do you know what’s on a honeymoon salad? Lettuce alone, no dressing!!!! HA, HA, HA.
Marion said that she lived a long happy life. She was tired and prayed for God to take her. He granted her wish although she struggled the last few days. She is finally at peace.
The last thing Marion said before she went to sleep was “Joe, what took you so long to come for me”. Joe was her husband who had already passed
Marion will be missed. She asked us not to be sad or mourn her loss. Instead, think about the good times and fun we had together. Most of all take comfort that she will always be looking over us and will live on in our hearts.
Marion is survived by her daughter, Joanne Marion (Jacob) Ginocchio, son-in-law, Peter Andrew Ginocchio Jr, grand dogs, Louie, Jake, Otis and Jax, son – Thomas Joseph Jacob of Colorado, son - Dennis Scott Jacob, wife, Kathleen and granddaughters, Britta & Coleen Jacob. John Edward Jacob Sr. (Deceased), grandchildren, Stacey and John Jr Jacob.
Marion will be missed but, never forgotten.
