Lee Ralph Chasse, 81, of Fort Myers, FL passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on October 16, 2023. He was born on June 22, 1942 in Waterbury, CT to Paul Raymond Chasse and Sophie Virginia (Boczkowski) Chasse.
He was the adored husband of Elizabeth Anne (Kelly) Chasse. Lee and Elizabeth were married in Hagerstown, MD on August 5, 1988 and were fortunate to celebrate 35 wedding anniversaries together. Lee was the proud father of five children: Sandra Chasse (Minh), Anthony Chasse, Gregory Chasse, as well as his two children with Elizabeth, Amanda Waldron (Travis) and Cameron Chasse.
Lee graduated from Wilby High School in Waterbury, CT in 1960. Immediately following, Lee enlisted in the United States Army. He completed a distinguished 30 year military career, retiring as a Master Sergeant in 1990. Lee spent a significant portion of his career at various locations around the world. Berlin, Germany where he witnessed the building of the Berlin Wall. Republic of Vietnam for 8 years, where he was honored with a Purple Heart and the Soldier’s Medal for Heroism among many other awards. Frankfurt Germany and Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers of Europe in Belgium, where he and Elizabeth met. He chose Fort Ritchie, MD for retirement where he owned a nearby home. Lee and Elizabeth lived in Waynesboro PA, Rochester NH and Fort Myers FL.
In addition to his wife and children, Lee is survived by his brother Paul G. Chasse (Catherine) of Fort Myers and Granby CT, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Susan and Richard Espinoza of Fort Myers, and his grandchildren John Dao, Emily Le, and Edward Le. He was also especially close with Elizabeth’s uncle Francis O’Brien of Fort Myers who also survives him as well as numerous very special nephews and nieces.
Lee was predeceased by his parents Paul and Sophie, his uncles Zygmont Boczkowski and Theodore Boczkowski and his aunt Wanda Boczkowski.
In a ceremony befitting of his long distinguished military career, Lee will receive funeral and burial with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery at a date to be determined in the fall of 2024.
Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the military assistance charity of one’s choice.
