He was born in Detroit, MI on 6/21/1934. Larry graduated from the University of Detroit and received a degree in Finance. He also received an MBA from the University of Chicago. He was married to Joan P. Long on 5/9/1959.
Larry had a career in Finance with General Motors, and Inland Steel. He later was the Chief Financial Officer for Atlas Steel. Larry failed at retirement and worked as the CFO of All Faiths Food Bank in Sarasota, FL until he was 79 years old. Larry will be remembered for hating to lose at cards, his kind and caring nature, his great sense of humor, and his warm belly laugh. Larry and Joan loved to dance together, throw parties and events, and socialize with their friends. They were extremely involved in their church community, wherever they lived. Larry had a soothing voice and was a member of various church choirs. Throughout his life, in the order of importance, were Larry’s Faith, family and friends.
Larry is predeceased by his loving wife of nearly 62 years, Joan (4/6/1936 - 4/23/2021). He is survived by his 4 children: Thomas Eschrich, Daniel Eschrich (Tracy), Susan Eschrich, and James Eschrich Sr (Jennifer), and 3 grandchildren: Connor Eschrich, James Eschrich Jr, and Jatelin Eschrich. He is also survived by 3 siblings: Joan Weber, Richard Eschrich (Bernie), and Katherine Lueck (Thomas).
A Funeral Mass will be held at 9:30AM, November 3rd, 2023, at Incarnation Catholic Church 2901 Bee Ridge Road, Sarasota, FL 34239.
