A lifelong resident of the area, she spent a few years of her life in other places:Michigan, New York, and Oklahoma, but her heart was always in Bradenton, where she returned each time.
Karen will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and friend whose kindness, and humor touched the lives of those around her. She found happiness in family, friends, creative endeavors, and the simple pleasures of her daily life.
While raising a family, Karen worked in several jobs, including hospital administration at Manatee Memorial Hospital and Rochester (NY) General Hospital. Outside of work, she enjoyed painting, reading, and playing word games - activities that reflected her creative nature, curious mind, and love of words.
She is survived by her children, Charles Oscar Perez (Kim James); Linda Suzanne Perez (Ken Garrison); and Deborah “Debbie” Louise Fifield (the late Alan Fifield).
Karen was grandmother to Jessica Perez, Megan Harvey, and Leah Fifield. Jessica preceded Karen in death and remained a cherished part of her family and her heart. She also has 3 great grandchildren, Ava, Owen and Oscar.
She was preceded in death by her father Ralph, her mother Ovita and her sister Ann.
Karen will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will live on through her family and friends, the life she shared with them, and the many moments of love, laughter, creativity, and friendship that will be treasured always.
