June Patricia Kimmel

June Patricia Kimmel, age 91, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025, in Fort Myers, Florida, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was born on June 18, 1933, in Swansea, Wales, to Mary and David Walsh.

June was preceded in death by her siblings, Trevor Walsh, Ronald Walsh, Graham Walsh, and Maureen Boyd. She is survived by her children, Kevin Kimmel and Karen Inger; their spouses, Glenn Inger and Beverly Kimmel; and her grandchildren, Helana Sharum, Kylee Kimmel, Graham Kimmel, Morgan Inger, and Trevor Inger.

Her career began in her teens as a shorthand typist in Wales. It continued to office administration in Southeast Michigan, which included Dr. Kruszka Podiatry, Delphi Automotive, and the Older Persons Commission (OPC) of Rochester. After retirement, she volunteered with the Father Fred Foundation in Traverse City, Michigan. June was an ardent supporter of the Humane Society, Habitat for Humanity, the National Wildlife Federation, Shriners Hospitals for Children, and more.

She possessed a fierce sense of justice and never forgot her humble beginnings or experience as an American immigrant. An avid reader, June was always reliable for excellent book recommendations. She was an enthusiastic fan of the Detroit Tigers and Lions and greatly appreciated the arts. She was quick to befriend anyone, whether a neighbor or someone standing nearby in the grocery aisle. June impacted many lives and consistently shared words of encouragement: “Onward and upward.”

Our family is immensely grateful for the outpouring of love we have received since her passing. We know, and she knew, she was beloved by many. Please join us in finding comfort in another of her favorite sayings: “This too shall pass.” While our hearts may be heavy for some time, we know they will always be full of the joy she brought to our lives.
