

She was born on July 19, 1938 in New Brunswick NJ to Agnes and Charles Manna. Joyce lived in Middlesex, NJ for many years before moving to Shell Point Retirement Community, Punta Rassa, FL.
Joyce graduated from Plainfield High School, and Montclair State Teacher’s College in NJ with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Science Education. Joyce taught in Theodore Schor Middle School in Piscataway, NJ. Joyce taught Science, but especially enjoyed Biology and Botany. Joyce was a devout Christian who loved exploring the complexities of creation, seeing the hand of God in every scientific discovery.
Joyce was a member of Cedarcroft Bible Chapel in South Plainfield, NJ. She was active in youth work, and caring for young children in the nursery on Sunday mornings. While in Shell Point she went on a 2 week missionary trip to Peru where she worked as a receptionist in a medical mission. She enjoyed entertaining children as they waited to see the doctor. During retirement Joyce had time to pursue creative arts. She made beautiful jewelry, and was a gifted watercolor artist. She also enjoyed being involved in the stamp ministry at the Village Church.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband Ralph E. Wallis, and her daughter Amy Catherine Wallis. She is survived by her sisters Janice Geist and Lois Lipka, their husbands, Robert P. Geist, and Roland Lipka, and her nieces, and nephews, Robert D. Geist, Beth Palaia and her husband Rocco, Paul Geist, Joy Diamond and her husband Michael , Chuck Lipka, and many cousins.
A service will be held this week at the Larsen Chapel in Shell Point. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christian Missions in Many Lands, P.0. Box 13, Spring Lake, NJ 07762. Checks should be made out to CMML, Inc.
