Bill and Cindy were married just short of 55 years before her passing. At his bedside before and during his journey home were his children and one of his Grandchildren.
Bill was born in Williamsport, PA on September 27,1937. He was preceded in death by his mother, Katheryn Myers, Stepfather Robert Myers, Father Josiah “Joe” Harris stepmother Anna Harris, his sister Virginia Cerquozzi and 4 Great Grand Babies.
Bill is survived by his seven children Josiah W. (Crystal) Harris II of Tx, John K. (Tammy) Harris of PA, Lynette Diemer of PA, Kimberly Lusk of PA, Beth A. (McKinley) Henson Fl, Kari A. Harris Fl and James R. Harris Fl, Sisters Kathy Surratt of FL and Brenda Baker of FL and Brother Jim Harris of FL. Bill was blessed to be the Grand Father of 21 grandchildren and Great Grandfather of 36 Great Grand Children, 4 of which have preceded him death.
Although Bill worked in a few different professions, he was most proud of his service in the U.S. Navy and loved his long-time position with the Sarasota County School Board as head custodian of a couple different county schools. One of his jobs was the foster Father to a young boy. Bill loved children of all ages. Many of his children's friends were also considered one of Bills own children... he loved them all.
In his younger years as a parent, Bill enjoyed taking his family fishing, camping, picnicking, and they would load up the kids and go to the drive-in movies, he also loved to play golf as often as possible. He was also a coach for his youngest sons baseball teams. As he got a little older, Bill enjoyed coloring in his adult style coloring books, completing word search puzzles, watching golf and football (GO BUCS!!) and playing solitaire on his phone. The thing that Bill enjoyed the most was spending time with his family. Seeing them succeed and knowing that they are healthy, and spending time with his little dog Bella.
A celebration of life will be held on February 17, 2024 at Oscar Scherer State Park for his Florida family and friends with a second celebration for both Bill and his Wife Cindy at a later date PA for their Pennsylvania friends and family. A graveside burial with be held at Wildwood, Cemetary in Williamsport, PA following the celebration of life.
