John Henry Small

John (Jack) Henry Small passed away peacefully in Fort Myers Florida on October 31, 2018 at 84 years old. Jack was born July 18, 1934 to Henry Small and Doris Judd Small in the Judd family farmhouse in South Paris Maine. He grew up in Bath Maine. He prided himself on being a rugged Mainer and worked with his father as a Maine Guide leading young boys down the Allagash River in the northern wilds of Maine. He met and married Jane-Linn Andress while attending the University of Maine. He was the captain of the football team, one of few that played both offense AND defense. Jack was later inducted into the University of Maine Football Hall of Fame. He joined the army in 1956 and continued in the reserves as he started his career at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft Company in East Hartford Connecticut and West Palm Beach Florida. He retired after 31 years as Vice President of Personnel at the young age of 55 Years old.

Jack enjoyed his summers in Norway Maine at Hobbs Pond where he created a family compound enjoyed by his children and grandchildren for the past 40 years. He enjoyed lobster feasts every Saturday and golfed many times a week. He was an enthusiastic and longtime member of The Disney Vacation Club. He hosted his entire family every year for the past 26 years to enjoy a week of Disney magic.

Jack has enjoyed the past 13 years living at Shell Point Retirement Community in Fort Myers Florida where he loved golfing and playing poker with the many friends he made. His grand finale was a hole-in-one on the 2nd hole, April 17,2018. Way to go Jack!

Jack leaves behind his wife of 63 years Jane-Linn, his son Jeff (Martha) Small, daughter Susan-Linn (Paul) Shook. His grandchildren Stacy-Linn (Dominic) Gross, Laura (Brandon) Sogoian, Samantha Shook, Justin Small, and great grandson Wyatt Gross.
