Jerry Dewain Linger

JERRY DEWAIN LINGER (1950-2017) Jerry Dewain Linger passed away November 11, 2017 in Fort Myers, FL after an 8 month battle with lung cancer. Jerry was born September 5, 1950 in Elkins, WV. He was the son of Hoye Linger (deceased) and Violet Linger. He formerly lived in Southington, Niles and Akron, OH. After retiring from the USPS in 2005, he and his wife Virginia moved to Fort Myers, FL. Jerry loved being a beach bum at FMB. He also enjoyed riding his Harley, gardening and carving walking sticks. He was an Army Veteran (1969 - 1972) and served in Viet Nam. Jerry is survived by his wife, Virginia Franks Linger; sister Jennifer Roberts (Butch) Cortland, OH; and brother Paul Linger (Betsy) Warren, OH. He is survived by many nieces and nephews including Stacie, Kaitlyn and Chris (Scooter). He was preceded in death by his father Hoye, his brother Troy , infant nephew Allen Linger and infant niece Tiffany Linger. No services will be held. Cremation has taken place at The Neptune Society. His ashes will be spread at FMB, OH, and WV. Contributions can be made to Hope Hospice in his name.
