I had the fortune and the honor to work with Jeanne in Rookery Bay for about 5 years. She was a kind, smiling, bright, helpful and loving person who volunteered to help others to register, check in and help them with the paperwork in the Project Greenscapes  classes we taught in RB .  Whenever we met, we always hugged. She was an example to follow. I miss her already. May  Jeanne rest in peace. 

I met Jeanne in 2000 as an intern at Briggs Nature Center where she had been volunteering with Morris.  When I came back to Briggs as a full timer in 2002 and needed a place to live, they opened their home to me for a few months until I found a permanent residence. Over the years I would run into Jeanne when I visited Rookery Bay for work. Each time I saw her, she would greet me with a big smile and a warm hug. Just seeing her face brought back fond memories from Briggs.   Jeanne will be missed!!!

My sincere sympathy to Jeanne’s family.   Take comfort in knowing we will see her again in our heavenly home…. Fond remembrances of our times together at Shepherd of the Glades Church.   She will remain a cornerstone at Shepherd of The Glades Lutheran Church.

Paul and I were blessed to have met Jeanne at Shepherd of the Glades Lutheran Church.  She always welcomed us with a happy greeting and smiles.  Paul always asked her if she made the Lutheran coffee on Sunday morning.  Blessings and peace to Joanne and the family.

I met Jeanne seven years ago, she was my downstairs neighbor on Mainsail. We started chatting and she told me about the Rookery (as well as identifying all the birds I saw in our “backyard”! I started volunteering and have enjoyed many hours “working” there. 
Jeanne and I spent time together “chatting” and for the past several years we have “chatted” every Tuesday at 4 on her lanai. When I told her I was heading home to Michigan, she said “That makes me sad.”
Now I say to Jeanne, “This makes me sad.”
But I will always be grateful for her sharing her Marco newspaper, her wisdom, her cheese and crackers and her laughter!! And she made the worlds best banana bread!!!

I will always miss Grandmom so much and I know her sister will miss her to. She will always be in our hearts I know it. She was strong and never gave up in her life. Every one misses her and always will and I will never give up on her and i will never forget her either.

We had fun!  Everyone loved Jeanne. She was easy to talk and had a sense of humor which I really enjoyed.  We will all miss her so much.

Jeanne helped with the Rookery Bay Learning Center store inventory for many years!  This photo is from late 2022.   Jeanne was always willing to help with this tedious task and did it with her usual smile and happy demeanor.

Jeanne has been an important part of our great team of Learning Center volunteers since 2003.  She started on Shell Island Road before the center opened in 2004! 

Jeanne donated 3,112 hours to the reserve.  This is more than ANY volunteer on record since the center opened in 2004.  Morris also volunteered helping our Coastal Training Program department prepared for the Best Practice management workshops. 

My prayers and utmost sympathy for the family. I knew Jeanne from her many hours of volunteering with Rookery Bay NERR. She was always kind and caring in every way and will never forget the interactions we had. 

I remember having conversations with her about the little things, and somehow, she remembered everything! For example- one of the first times that we had a conversation, I mentioned my goal to drink more water and less coffee throughout the day. Fast forward five years and she was still asking me if I was keeping to my goal. I am going to miss my favorite volunteer!

Hello Jenny Jones family, I was a fellow volunteer with her for many years, and you could always count on her, having a smile and a kind word to say. To say that she was amazing really doesn’t give her justice, but she was a kind woman very accomplished, and I admired her a lot,

I had the privilege of volunteering with Jeanne. She was one of the reasons I loved spending my time there on Wednesdays. What a great smile, soo much wisdom I gleamed and a great honor to have known her. She was such an inspiration to me. Much love and hugs to her family.

Jeanne was so well loved and respected at Rookery Bay Educational Center. When I first started as a new volunteer, it was Jeanne who took me under her wing.  She and I quickly became friends , sharing  stories about our lives, and concerns about each other.  Jeanne was a gentle soul that welcomed all who entered our doors and thanked all for visiting our Center.  Jeanne will be greatly missed.

Jeanne was a long  time resident of Mainsail IV and served for many years on the Board of Directors.  She was always so wise and so kind.  She was a wonderful mentor to me and always so supportive.  I loved her and will miss her dearly!

It has been a pleasure and honor to work beside Jeanne Jones each Monday at Rookery Bay. She brought a gentle sweetness to the learning center as she welcomed our guests.  Her smile and warmth will be missed. 

We worked with Jeanne Jones as volunteers at Rookery Bay. Never has anyone been more enthusiastic and interested in her work. She was a pleasure to have as a partner in our many events, and her buoyant personality made the time pass quickly.. Her lighthearted smile and sweet hearted nature raised everyone’s spirits. We will miss her.

She always had a warm greet for our guests, a beautiful and sweet smile,  helpful  and willing to learn more things to support all of us here.  She served in many busy events and workshops, we are so grateful for all she did for this organization and community. Words cannot express how much I loved and enjoyed having her around, our conversations, seeing her smile every week and warm hugs. Jeanne had a beautiful soul and was a ray of sunshine for many including me, I will miss her dearly and she will always have a special place in my heart. My deepest condolences, blessings and prayers go to all her loved ones through this time of sorrow, wishing God fills you with  comfort and peace.
