Oct 10, 1943-April 5, 2023
Survived by her husband George Marchette Jr and three kids Jackie Safar, George A. Marchette, and Heidi Coffman.
Ingrid was born in Stadt Elze, a small town in the district of Hildesheim, in Lower Saxony, Germany. Ingrid was born to Fritz and Ilse Muller in 1943. In the middle of a war-torn Europe, Ingrid’s character was shaped amidst political instability, scarce resources, and a will to survive. Because of this, she appreciated everything she had in life and always knew how to make due with little.
As a young lady, Ingrid fell in love with an American GI from southeast Texas named George Marchette. George and Ingrid were married in Kirch-Göns, Germany in 1963. As George’s service was completed, they moved back to the states, and Ingrid found herself raising a family in a foreign land. She learned English from watching television and eventually entered the workforce full time in retail. Her hard work and dedication to excellence set her apart from her peers and she went from clerk to running her own store. Ingrid excelled in a male dominated field despite not having a college degree.
Through it all, Ingrid always put family before herself. Ingrid’s love and commitment to family lead to George and Ingrid sharing 60 years of marriage and growing their family to include four cherished grandchildren: Joshua, Jacob, Hannah, and Brady.
Ingrid had an appreciation for nature and had a deep love of music. She was a good friend who loved to laugh and was always a good sport. Ingrid was patient, kind, understanding and wise. Her life was an example of selflessness and unconditional love. We are grateful to have had Ingrid’s influence on our lives, but she will be sorely missed. Mom, may you bask in the light of God’s Glory until we see you again.”
