Port Charlotte, FL – Lucy Ludwig, age 80, passed away peacefully at home March 11, 2022, with her loving husband holding her hand.
Lucy was born in Santa Ana, CA and graduated from Mater Dei High School in 1960, where she was a top-notch athlete. Volleyball was always her favorite sport. California was where she fell in love with a Marine, Gerald Ludwig, and they were married in 1961. Her husband Jerry and she moved around the West coast and eventually settled in Kansas City, MO with their four children, where they remained until Jerry retired from the Kansas City Police Dept.. Lucy worked at Montgomery Ward part-time, played sports with their daughters for many years, was a dedicated volunteer at KC Lutheran high school and their church, and was a wonderful full-time mother and wife. From there they built their retirement home in Shell Knob, MO. After approximately 10 years in Shell Knob, they moved to Port Charlotte, FL.
Lucy is survived by her husband Jerry Ludwig; their four children, Josh Ludwig (wife Rani, and sons Daniel, David, Joseph, and Matthew), Shandy Klaus (husband Gary, and kids Kami and Casey), Matt Ludwig (sons Daniel and Klint), and Marnie Winters (husband Scott, and kids Brandon, Allison, and Haylee). She is also survived by two of her siblings, Ralph Jr. (wife Loretta and family) and Frank Gonzalez (wife Delores and family); as well as many more nieces, nephews, and great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Ralph Sr and Mary Gonzalez, and her siblings Nancy Aguirre,John Aguirre, Pete Aguirre, Mary Gonzalez.
It's a great comfort to us knowing that our mom always knew earth was temporary and heaven was her home.
