George Minton Tinsley of Sarasota passed away on November 1, 2016, at the age of 82. Born in Fairburn, GA, he spent his adult years in Atlanta and Macon, GA and Miami, FL. Minton was an avid boater when in Miami, took seven Windjammer tours and lived on a houseboat. There, he was also involved with the Kiwanis, Jaycees, Toastmasters, Habitat for Humanity, First Presbyterian Church, Coral Gables Congregational Church and several other organizations. He spent his working years as an insurance claims manager and managed litigation for several insurance companies. He graduated from Georgia State University and received a law degree from Atlanta Law School using his knowledge in insurance and real estate careers. Minton spent many summers in Boone, NC, where he was active with the Blowing Rock Stage Co., Rumple Presbyterian Church, the Community Club of Blowing Rock, served with Habitat for Humanity and the Kiwanis of Boone, NC. In his retirement in Sarasota he was active in Kiwanis and a member of the First Congregational Church of Christ. He was community minded, generous and will be missed. Minton is survived by his loving wife, Sandra, a sister, Annie Doris Mann and several nieces and nephews. His Memorial was private.
