Eve was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin to Gertrude (Pontel) & Kenneth Bork. Her father Ken was killed in WWII 30 days before the end of the war. She grew up in Whitewater with her mother and Stepfather George Hoffman. First attending a one room schoolhouse on Bluff Road, then graduated for Whitewater High in 1960. Member of the First English Lutheran Church. She received her BS from Stout University in Menomonie. In her first week at college there were 3 Evelyns, one refused to change her name, the other went by Evie, and that is how the name “Eve” came to be. Graduated with a degree in Home Economics, English, as well as Speech & Drama. While at Stout Eve was Freshman President of the Home Economics Club, a member of the Alph Psi Omega Drama Fraternity, and as a Senior received the President's award for outstanding performance in theater. She earned her MBA from Boston University. Her first teaching position was in Edgar, WI. After 4 years of small-town life, she volunteered to chaperone a group of college students traveling to Europe. While there she reunited with her brother “Steve” stationed near Karlsruhe Germany. European Headquarters of Dept. Of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDs). She was hired that summer 1969 to teach in Manheim, Germany. Starting the next chapter of her life, meeting George Biner, a fellow schoolteacher at the time. Shortly thereafter they were married and brought to life a son Anthony (Tony). The 3 of Us, as she would refer to them remained in Germany for the 25 years teaching in Manheim, Heidelberg, Hahn, Giessen, & Frankfurt. While in Europe Eve was active in the Boy Scouts of America, she worked with Tony from Cub Scouts through his Eagle Project. She became a member of Order of the Arrow (OA) and joined the North Star District Treasury Team at which time she was awarded the Silver Beaver, the highest honor given to a Civilian Scouter. She continued involvement in Community Theater ranging from Skits, Talent Shows, and the Frankfurt Community Theater.
After retirement Eve & George returned to USA and set out (RVing) to see the sights and look for the next chapter of Life. They settled in Vista, California. With George being from CA and a large extended family keep Eve very busy. After George’s passing in 7/1/2000 & Tony 1/1/2010 she ventured out to fill the void by working for the San Diego County Library as a Librarian. Also, volunteering at a local elementary school and remained active in the local community theater. 2018 she decided to downsize and relocate closer to the brothers living in Sarasota/Bradenton, FL. While there establishing roots, home purchase and Volunteering at the local Manatee County South Library 3 days using her many talents, as well as an active member of the Friends of the Library which she truly loved.
