Donald H. Litz, 88, of Sarasota passed away Tuesday, July 24 at Tidewell Hospice House. He was born July 30, 1929 in Albany, NY one of two children of the late Hugh Litz and Norma (Heimer) Litz. He attended Albany High School and earned his diploma while serving in the Army. He lived in Albany with his parents, prior to assuming military service for seven years. He served as a musician in the West Point Band. Then he changed career paths and worked as a salesman for the H. O. Trerice Thermometer Company and subsequently became the small business owner of the Donn-L Sales Company. He resided in northern New Jersey for many years prior to retiring to Florida at age 68. While in Florida he enjoyed life by boating and travel. He will be remembered most for his winning smile and wicked sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Norma (Heimer) Litz and by one sister, Marion Velardi.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Arnold of Sarasota, FL; Daughter, Cynthia Kolodinsky and her husband, George of Ocala, FL; Son, Jeffrey Litz and his wife, Clare of Parsippany, NJ. Also by two grandsons; Marc Kolodinsky of Lake Mary, FL and Kevin Kolodinsky of Hawthorne, CA
