June 16, 2023, David Lance Hanes, 75, of Naples, Florida, passed away peacefully in the loving arms of his wife, Patricia (Corwin) with family by his side. David was born on January 6, 1948 to Rolenzo and Madeline Hanes of Indianapolis, Indiana. He graduated from Culver Military Academy in 1966 and later attended Franklin College. David served in the U.S. Navy Dental Corps as a dental assistant and was part of a new training base which opened in Orlando. In 1969, he completed his service and moved to Naples where his father practiced orthodontics. He became a lifelong resident after meeting his beautiful wife, Patricia at the Naples Pier.
David started his own business which served Southwest Florida for over forty years. He was well liked by his customers. His two favorite pastimes were golfing and deep sea fishing. He achieved a hole-in-one at Naples Grande Golf Club in 2021. David enjoyed hosting family and friends at his weekend home in Key Largo, originally designed and built by his uncle, Myrl J. Hanes. He enjoyed traveling the world with his wife and family, visiting places such as Scotland, England, Italy, Spain, Greece, Jordan, United Arab Emirates, and many islands in the Caribbean.
David was preceded in death by his father, Dr. Rolenzo A. Hanes and mother, Madeline W. Hanes. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Patricia (Corwin) Hanes and their two sons, Sean (Jodi) Hanes and Brian (Nancee) Hanes; David adored his three grandchildren Kendall, Hunter, and Blaise. He is also survived by his older brother Richard (Dee) Hanes of Manakin, Virginia with their eight children, and cousins Carol (Chuck) Haraway of Colorado and Sonja (Ronnie) Zebedee of Florida.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 2:30 pm at Covenant Church Naples, followed by a reception at Naples Grande Golf Club at 4:30 pm.
