David James Carlough Sr. On April 2, 2017 God blessed Dave with a peaceful journey home for eternity. He was loved and cared for in his home until his last breath. He was born on August 5, 1931 to the late, Adele Troop Carlough and David James Carlough in Ramsey, NJ. Dave lived a full and happy life. After high school he and two of his best friends enlisted in the USMC during the Korea war. He proudly served his four years and returned to his home in Ramsey NJ. to take over the Troop Insurance Business from his Grandfather , William R. Troop. Running the business was not enough for Dave, so he followed in his father’s footsteps and became a volunteer fireman/fire chief for the Upper Saddle River Fire Dept. while running the business. He leaves behind a son, David J. Carlough Jr., (Jane) a daughter, Merrilee Loeffer (Richard). Two granddaughters, Sarah Carlough Batton and Jessy Carlough Howard. Grandsons, Richard and James Loeffer , Daniel Carlough, as well as four great grandchildren. He is survived by his brother, William Arthur Carlough of Key West, FL. and his Life Partner, of 19 years, JoAnn Witt of Bradenton, FL. His blended family, Kimberly (Goodwin) Witt, Brock, Savannah, and Jaidyn Goodwin. Graveside services will be held at the Sarasota National Cemetery in Sarasota, FL, Monday, April 24, 2017 at 10:30 AM
