

Dr. Charles F. Hudson 91, passed away on October 26th, 2022. He was born on September 18th, 1931 in Wayne, MI, the son of Henry B. & Ruth M. (Overstreet) Hudson. Charles graduated from Wayne High School, Wayne, MI in 1949. Attended Eastern University in Ypsilanti, MI. He served proudly in the Navy as a Medic in the Korean War from 1951 - 1955.
He married Mary Ann Schmitz from Wayne, MI on June 29th, 1957. He graduated from Lincoln Chiropractic College in 1958. That same year he passed the Florida Board & they moved to Bradenton FL. He opened his practice on Manatee Avenue in 1959 & worked there until his retirement in December 2021. For those 62 years he thoroughly enjoyed & loved treating his patients along with the humor added in. Either you knew him by Charles, Charlie or Chuck or just "Doc" he will be remembered as funny, witty, & caring. He really loved being a Chiropractor. He was an avid softball player.
In his early years he played fast pitch softball & then later played slow pitch into his late 80's. He played with Hoods Dairy, Cedar Hammock & a few others. Then with his twin brother George together they sponsored their own team as the 'Hudson Brothers'. They won many championships. Even in his mind at 91 he still wanted to get out there to play. In his earlier years, he enjoyed playing flag football & basketball with his 2 sons, 2 brothers and their families on Turkey Day - a family tradition. He was so proud to be an American & have served in the Navy & being a Veteran. He always said he would've served again in a heartbeat. He was a huge & loyal fan of the University of Michigan & Detroit Red Wings. He loved to listen to the Big Band music of the 40's & 50's & some of his favorite singers like Frank Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Bing Crosby. He donated to many charities including the Disabled/Mentally Challenged which was very dear to his heart.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his two brothers & sister-in-laws, Hank (Henry) & Jean Hudson & twin brother George & Ginny Hudson, sister Dorie Yowell, niece Karen Hudson, daughter Lisa L. Stobaugh. Surviving in addition to his wife, Mary Ann (Schmitz) Hudson, are his children, Dr. Mark S. Hudson (Hazel), Sandy M. Rocklein (David), Dr. Brent K. Hudson (Tatiana), Cheryl A. Johnson (Steve), Son-in-law Russ Stobaugh, five grandchildren, Liam, Ethan, Elijah, Melissa & Crystal, two great-grandchildren Ariel & Alexis & three great-great-grandchildren Lily, Alaina & Scarlet & many nieces & nephews. You are missed dearly. We love you Dad, Papa, Bumpa, Charlie Barley, Uncle Charlie Bones, Barney Fife. At a later date, a private veteran memorial service/interment will be held at the Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota FL.
