He served in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1966. This brought him to New Jersey where he met his wife Carole (nee Gibson) who survives him, they were married for 57 years. He leaves behind two daughters Karen Stewart (Dennis Hubauer), Donna Schieszler, a grandson Jordan Stewart, his brother Joseph Schieszler (LaVerne) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents A.J and Mary Alice Schieszler and a brother Gerald.
He was employed by Western Electric Co who had a defense contract with the US government and worked on the computer mainframes of the Anti-Ballistic Missile System both on the Island of Kwajalein in the Marshall Islands, and then in Cheyenne Mountain, Colorado Springs Colorado.
In 1976 he went to work for Rescar, a rail car repair company founded by his brother Joe, where he started as a welder, he held many different positions all around the country moving thirteen times and retired as the president.
The family would like to thank all the personnel at Gulf Coast Hospital and Landmark Hospital for the care and compassion they showed Gus in his final days.
Gus had requested there be no services. Neptune Society in Fort Myers will manage his cremation. In lieu of flowers donations in his name may be made to The American Diabetes Association or any charity of your choice.
