Tom was born on June 28, 1953, in Strawn, Texas. He graduated from Abilene High in 1971. After graduation, he worked at Cottingham Bearing and went on to open Abilene Bearing with his younger brother, Larry. He later sold his company to Kaman Industrial Technologies and managed the same district for them until retirement. Over the years, he slowly built his real estate portfolio, and after retiring spent most of his time acquiring/selling/flipping and managing his rental properties.
In May of 1982, Tom married Lisa Kae Morris and they created a life together in Abilene. They had two children, Erin Jeanette and Clayton Tyler. Tom was an amazing father and he loved his children and grandchildren with everything he had.
Tom was passionate about travel and many of his most cherished memories were from various places across the world. His Facebook page was jokingly known by some as ‘Where’s Tom’, as he would post from places without telling anyone he was going. Tom also loved wine and wine country and served as a judge in local wine competitions. He loved to attend concerts, musicals, and theatre of any kind. Tom was the very definition of a friend and showed kindness and compassion to every single person he met along his journey. He was always ready for a coffee date, dinner, or weekend getaway with his people.
Tom is survived by his children, Erin & Adrian Tidwell {Rylan, Mallorie & Maycie} and Clayton & Heather Roberson {Gauge, Bayne, & Everly}; his mother, Jo Roberson; Brother, Bill Roberson and family; Jerry & BJ Morris, Vickie & Tony Fears and family, Dan & Sherrie Morris; nieces and nephews: Lindsey Martinez & family, Lance Roberson & family, Luke Roberson & family, Adam Fears & family, Josh Fears & family, Hayley Smith & family. Tom is preceded in death by his father, Tommy Levi Roberson, brother Larry Roberson.
The family would like to thank our providers at UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dr. Toral Patel with Neurosurgical Services and Dr. Michael Youssef with Neurology/Glioblastoma, and the nursing staff for the support and love shown to us during this difficult time. Erin would like to add a special thanks to Cornerstone Caregiving and Beyond Faith Hospice for the care they provided to Tom during his final weeks. It is very apparent they cared deeply about our family and it meant the world to have them in our home doing what they do best.
The memorial service will be at The Hills Church, West Fort Worth, 2828 Longvue Avenue, Fort Worth TX 76108, on Saturday, July 31, 2021, at 11:00 am. The family will arrive at the church at 10:00 am for visitation before the service. Lunch will be provided for family and out of town guests immediately following the service.
