Clifton Houzlow was born in Arkansas, and spent his childhood in Riverview, Michigan. He was the first-born child of Clifton and Geneva Houzlow on January 18, 1940, with a younger sister, Sandra born three years later.
Clif attended Riverview High School where he graduated class of 1958 with honors.
He started working at A & P Grocery Store while attending high school and continued working his way up in the grocery industry and was an accomplished meat cutter for many years as well as owning his own meat market in Hollywood, CA Cordons Market.
In 1957 he met wife Mardee Rita Dunne and married shortly after on October 23, 1958, at a young age of 18. They were very much in love until the day Mardee passed too soon in 2002 at the age of 60. They had 2 children Debbie and Keith.
He later moved his family to California in 1963 leaving Michigan and never looking back. Clif did not like the cold weather in Michigan; he regularly referred to it as the coldest place on earth!
Clif’s passions were his job as a butcher, love for a nice home and nice things. He was a provider of abundance. When Mardee passed he turned his focus on his corvette’s that he was very proud of. He also started singing in the church choir and continued to add to his very large collection of Christmas houses and many detailing pieces for his holiday display that he shared with many people, and this brought him pure joy!
He was a handsome loving man who was a son, brother, husband, father, uncle, cousin, father-in-law, grandfather, and great grandfather. He leaves behind his 2 children Debbie and Keith, his sister Sandy Kauwling, nieces, and cousins. Also, grandchildren Brittney, Jason, Bryce, Sara, Ashley, Blayne Clifton, and Cory Cook. His great grandchildren Caleb, Logan, Luke, Hannah, Zoe, Easton, Landon, Grady, and his most recent grandson Hayes Clifton who is also named after him. He was very proud of his family.
He was a hard worker, provider, supporter of us all and truly the matriarch of his family, he had a powerful l presence about him. We all have a special part of his legacy in our hearts forever. He will be greatly missed.
