Suzie shared a lifelong and unbreakable bond with her sisters Candy Wood, Janice Wood, and Vickie Sofas. Their sisterhood was filled with laughter, loyalty, and a deep love that carried through every chapter of their lives.
In high school, Suzie earned the esteemed Betty Crocker Award, a testament to her talent, dedication, and spirit. After graduating, she moved to California to attend college, embracing new opportunities and building the foundation for the life she would create.
Following college, Suzie settled in Sacramento and began her professional journey. While working at First American Title Company, she met Bert, the man who would become her soulmate and husband. Together, they shared nearly 50 years of marriage — a partnership defined by devotion, humor, and countless shared adventures.
Suzie and Bert were passionate golfers, traveling often to enjoy the sport they loved. One of Suzie’s proudest achievements was scoring a hole in one, a dream moment for any golfer and a memory she cherished.
After retiring from Yolo County, where she served as an analyst for 20 years, Suzie embarked on a successful second career as a self employed professional marketer for JII Promotions. Her work ethic, creativity, and warm personality made her a natural fit and earned her great respect.
An avid dog lover, Suzie adored the “fur babies” who brightened her life: Reggie, Lilly, Ernie, and Benny. Each one held a special place in her heart.
In her later years, Suzie’s unwavering devotion shone brightly as she lovingly cared for Bert throughout his battle with Alzheimer’s. Her strength, tenderness, and loyalty during that time were a profound reflection of her character.
The family extends heartfelt appreciation to DD, Lauren, and Ane for their exceptional care, compassion, and support.
Suzie is survived by her bonus daughter Sabrina Stewart (Philip & family); her sister Candy Valadao (John & family); her sister Vickie Salmeri (Rick & family); and her niece Chandra Thomas (Robert & family).
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bert and her sister Janice Hilliard (Ron). Suzie will be remembered for her kindness, her humor, her resilience, and the love she poured into every relationship. She leaves behind a legacy of joy, loyalty, and adventure — a life beautifully lived and deeply cherished.
Let us unite in honoring Suzie’s extraordinary life by celebrating the love, laughter, and memories she leaves with us all.
