Sheila Ann Fleischer

Sheila was the matriarch of her family—the strong, unmistakable center around which so much of family life revolved. She was generous, funny, and fiercely loyal. She could charm just about anyone, but only if she felt like it. If Sheila loved you, you knew it.

Sheila is survived by her husband, David Fleischer; her daughters, Jackie Brooker (John Brooker) and Robyn Waxman (Bill Miller); her siblings, Richard Waxman and Suzie Hammack (Jim Hammack) her grandchildren, Jennifer Johnson (Larry Johnson), Sophia Waxman, and Julia Rosen; and her great grandchildren, Erica Fleischer and Uriah Johnson.

Sheila spent her career as an elementary school teacher, bringing her intelligence, patience, humor, and no-nonsense approach to generations of children. But while teaching was an important part of her life, it was the people she loved who mattered most. Her greatest legacy is the family and friendships she built and the lasting impression she made on the people fortunate enough to know her.

Sheila was a good friend—funny, loyal, candid, and dependable. She could make you laugh, tell you exactly what she thought, challenge you when you needed challenging, and stand firmly in your corner when it mattered.

Sheila was a fighter. She fought for her family, worried about her family, celebrated her family, and, in her own way, made sure her family stayed connected. She was the kind of person who could fill a room simply by walking into it—and whose absence makes that room feel very different.

Sheila leaves behind a family who will miss her deeply, a lifetime of friendships, countless stories, plenty of laughter, and the unmistakable imprint of a woman who lived with strength, personality, and a very big heart.

She was one of a kind. She will be deeply missed, fiercely remembered, and loved forever.
