Richard was a very special person and shining soul. 

Being fellow islanders, from different countries, Richard and I shared a truly special bond. We'd spend times just chatting away, swapping stories about our families, the similarities in culture, sharing the different delicious cuisine typical from our respective islands, and reminiscing about life back home on the island. What really stood out to me was how passionately he spoke about his family. It was always such a comfort to connect with someone who understood that unique way of life so deeply. From talking about family celebrations, island familiar issues and events such as islanders fascination with beauty pageants! 

I always looked forward to the thought of Ish and me arriving at his home, knowing we'd be welcomed with a hug, and a table with delicious food.  He truly knew how to make everyone feel right at home.

Thank you, Richard, for all the beautiful memories, the laughter, the shared understanding, and for simply being such an extraordinary human being. You'll be profoundly missed, but your spirit will certainly live on in our hearts

It was in 2021 when Elijah and I first met Uncle Richard. He welcomed us with delicious food, shared so many wonderful stories, and even bought Elijah a cake and gave him a gift. That was the kind of person he was—warm, generous, and thoughtful.

We will always cherish the memories we shared with him. Rest peacefully, Uncle Richard. You will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. 🤍

I will miss visiting Richard (and John) in Vacaville where he would always cook and bake incredible dinners.  When I was in the Air Force at Travis AFB in the mid 1980s, Richard cooked a complete Thanksgiving dinner one year for me and my roommate (I was in my 20's and didn't know how to cook) and brought it to our apartment to celebrate. This photo was taken during the holidays when Richard was at his very best by organizing get togethers and of course cooking and baking incredible holiday treats.
