

He was a concrete contractor by trade and a notable American Powerboat Racer and World Champion. Best known for his accomplishments in outboard hot boat and marathon river racing during the 1970s. He loved to play his guitar, especially with family and friends. He was an incredible artist; his portraits were lifelike. Larry was a very talented man and a kind and loving soul who never met a stranger.
He was predeceased by his father, Richard Vogensen and mother, Martha Vogensen-Mello, brothers Lenny and Johnny Lee Vogensen, sisters Bonnie Vogensen and Leona (Nonnie) Smith, and his daughter Lawre (Shirlette) Myers.
He is survived by his brother-in-law Glen Smith, nephew Glen Smith Jr, niece Rhonda Patridis (Nik), their children Nik Jr, and Alexis Patridis-Stokes (Mason) and baby Leona Stokes, son-in-law Ed Myers, grandsons Eddie and Andrew Myers, stepbrother William Mello Jr, stepsister Lorena Mello and an abundance of lifelong friends.
A small gathering in remembrance of Larry will be announced at a later date.
