Craig Nelson, Parrott, a.k.a. “Rocky” of Benicia California passed peacefully with his loving wife, Autumn and sister Lindsay by his side, May 25, 2023. Rocky‘s parents, Glenn, and Ruth Parrott preceded him in death.
Rocky‘s stepdaughter‘s January Littleton and Danielle Littleton Denesha along with her two children, Drake and Pyper Denesha survived him. Papa Rock’s extreme patience, and tremendous love for them was evident in the way he talked to them and looked at them.
Rocky worked with the Forestry service in the Sierra Nevada’s after high school, and served as a merchant, marine on the Korean Bear before enlisting in the army as a howitzer cannoneer in the artillery branch, stationed in Korea, and then Germany. After serving his country, Rocky work as a dorm master at the San Rafael military Academy.
Rocky trained as a master wood grader and traveled to Columbia while working for the White Brothers based in Oakland (oh the stories you had!!!). Rocky was also trained as a chef at the CIA in San Francisco. Anyone who ever ate Rocky‘s legendary creations knows his renditions of Julia Childs, stuffed and deboned turkey and his prime rib was the ultimate. He loved Benicia, his house and his beautiful garden/orchard is a testament to that. Rocky volunteered as a docent for Benicia and walked his dogs through the town, everybody knew Rocky. Rocky‘s love for geography and history took him on many travels, Turkey, Costa Rica, Asia, Mexico, just to name a few and let’s not forget the endless trips to New Orleans “just to eat”.
Rocky was a kind and good soul who loved people, nature and dogs (yes, you, Frankie and Maxamillion), and was “someone you never forget“ once you meet him.
