Carla May Trevisanut, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away at the age of 76. Although she resided in Dixon, CA, she was born in Redondo Beach, CA where she grew up spending much of her time on the beach and playing in the ocean. She was lovingly watched over by her mother, Mary Luther and her stepfather, Johnny Luther.
In 1967, Carla graduated from South High School in Torrance, CA and in that same summer met her soulmate, Vernon Richard Trevisanut. They quickly fell in love and were married January 17, 1968. They were a beautiful couple - a flower child and a surfer - absolutely destined to be together. When Vern passed away on their 35th anniversary in 2003, Carla never remarried as she had expressed that he was her one and only true love. She is now reunited with him, and we can imagine that they have a lot of catching up to do.
Carla had always been a creative person and worked with crafts of all kinds. From crocheting intricate pieces and beading detailed jewelry, to molding beautiful clay projects and making healing salves, Carla honed in on each skill like a true craftsman. She took her unique wares to sell at fairs and festivals as well as put up for consignment in small shops. There was never a time in Carla’s life where she wasn’t dabbling in some art form or another.
Over the years, Carla also worked as a waitress, bartender, and an apartment complex manager. After moving and establishing a life in Davis, CA, Carla and Vern went on to build Vern’s Commercial Refrigeration. She helped answer phone calls and successfully manage the business for over two decades. In 2001, she opened a skateboard shop called, The Drop In, where she sold skateboards and similar merchandise, while also developing original healthy smoothies to blend and sell in-store for customers.
While Carla has many notable skills and hobbies, her biggest passion and achievement was motherhood. She had 3 daughters Johnna (57), Julia (40), and Jillian (36) who she fervently cared for her entire life. All three daughters had remained extremely close with her and even up to her final moments they were right by her side.
Being a mother was a gift that came naturally for Carla, and being a grandparent was no different. The grandkids could always expect a fun crafting activity, a comfort movie, long and interesting conversations, and a myriad of tasty snacks when at grandma's house. All seven of her grandchildren adored her and will cherish their time with her forever.
Carla will always be remembered as someone who had a hippie’s soul with a youthful heart. She stayed on trend with music, movies, and sports and could beat anyone in a game of trivia. Her pop culture knowledge was truly unmatched.
Most who knew Carla would first describe her as generous and giving because she was always thinking and doing for others. From perfectly curated gifts she prepared months in advance to staying up late on the phone just to make sure the person she was talking to made it home safely - her love was enormous and it was unconditional. She will be forever loved and tremendously missed ☮️.
She is preceded in death by her mother Mary Luther, step-father Johnny Luther, father Carl Reed, husband Vernon Trevisanut, and son-in-law Cody Johnson.
She is survived by her children Johnna Xavier, Ken Xavier, Julia Trevisanut, Jillian Warren, Westley Warren, her grandchildren Jordan Xavier, Jennifer Xavier, Kyle Xavier, Jovie Johnson, Juniper Warren, Willow Warren, and her half-sister Pam Davis.
Family and friends are invited to attend Carla’s Celebration of life at Stonegate Country Club in Davis, CA on Saturday July, 11 at 5:30 PM.
