Alexander - Palun

Born on April 26, 1940, in Australia, Alex was the son of Simon and Zena Palun. He spent his early years in Australia before eventually making California his home.

While working at Mare Island Naval Shipyard, Alex met Patricia "Patsy" Graff. They were married in 1971 and shared more than five decades of marriage together. During their life together, they welcomed two sons, Nicholas and Christopher.

A man of quiet faith, Alex loved the Lord and sought to serve Him throughout his life. He was reserved by nature and never sought the spotlight, preferring a simple life marked by faith, hard work, and caring for the things entrusted to him.

One of Alex's greatest passions was gardening. His yard was a reflection of the patience, care, and attention he gave to everything he cultivated. His love of horticulture led him to become a Master Gardener, and those who visited his home often admired the beauty he created. Tending his garden brought him peace and purpose.

Although quiet, Alex possessed a tender spirit. He especially treasured his role as a grandfather. He loved each of his grandchildren deeply, and having a granddaughter brought him particular joy. Some of his happiest moments were spent watching them grow and sharing in their lives.

Alex was preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Zena Palun, and his sister, Angela.

He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Patricia "Patsy" Palun; his sons, Nicholas Palun and his wife, Tesia, and Christopher Palun; his sister, Esther and her husband, Bill; his beloved grandchildren, Tyson, Jaycob, and Alexys; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Alex will be remembered as a man of quiet strength, steadfast faith, and gentle kindness. He found contentment in simple things—a flourishing garden, time with those he loved, and a life lived in faithful service to God. His example reminds us that a meaningful life is not measured by how loudly it is lived, but by the love, faithfulness, and care shown each day.

Alex had a deep love for his church family at Napa Valley Community Church. He was especially grateful for the kindness, compassion, and support of Pastor Dave and his wife, Laurie, whose friendship and care meant so much to him.

His family takes comfort in knowing that he is now at peace in the presence of the Lord he loved and served so faithfully.
