
Robert William Koski (Bob) passed away at the age of 95. His parents (Emil and Elma Koski) previously lived in Seattle, WA and they were born in Finland. His professional life was as a long-range planner with a special interest in architecture and urban design and transportation systems. He graduated from the University of Washington with a business administration degree in 1951 and went on to gain a Master of Arts in Urban Planning in 1957. He became an assistant professor of Urban Planning at the College of Architecture and Urban Planning, University of Washington 1958 to June 1961. Also at the University of Washington he became the assistant director of Planning in the Office of Planning and Development. He was a naval officer from 1951 to 1954. He moved to Sacramento, CA and was instrumental in the creation of the Sacramento Regional Transit District in 1974. He retired in 1981. His passion was as an expert in railroads Worldwide. He traveled on most of the railroads in the United States and many in Europe. Bob never threw away any document or magazine concerning railroads. He volunteered at railroad museums and the railroad station in Sacramento.California passed away on Friday, May 2, 2025.
