Nancy Tinker, long-time resident of Elk Grove, died September 27, 2026, at 94 years old after several months in hospice care. Nancy was born in Superior, WI and had 5 siblings (one sister, Linda, and four brothers, Richard, Ronald, Gerald, and Bruce).
Nancy lived a long and happy life filled with family, friends, work, and travel. She was kind, easy-going, and much loved. She enjoyed game days (cards, cribbage, dominoes & Yahtzee) with family & friends and she especially loved traveling throughout the U.S and all parts of the world with her husband, Ken, and also with her children, grandchildren, and her sister via camping and driving trips and cruises.
Nancy is survived by her daughter Elizabeth (Paul) Gage, daughter Nancy (Bob) Jenkins, and son Jay Tinker, 8 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. We are grateful for the loving care she received at Padua Care Home in Elk Grove and from the staff at Solano Hospice. She was proceeded in death by her husband, Ken, and two brothers, Ronald and Bruce.
Nancy moved to California in 1953; Ken was already there working for the railroad. She traveled by train in a roomette for several days with a toddler and 6-week-old baby to make that move! The family moved to Elk Grove in 1968 when the population was 3,500 and only a 4-way stop sign existed at Elk Grove-Florin Road and Elk Grove Blvd. She will be greatly missed but we rejoice she is now with her Lord and Savior.
