Eldon was born in Emporia, Kansas to Leonard and Ava Myler. He served in the US Navy on the aircraft carrier USS Rendova from 1949-1955 during the Korean War. In 1947 he married his high school sweetheart, Maurine Hawkins and was blessed with four children, Richard, Terry (Bontrager), Barbara (Wyett) and Susan (Jeffers), who were with him at the time of his passing.
Eldon graduated from Texas A&I, Kingsville in 1959 with a Bachelor of Science in Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering. He worked as a general manager in several states in the Midwest and in Tripoli, Libya. Upon returning from Libya, he and his wife Jeannette (Heavner) settled in Monte Vista, Colorado. Eldon was involved in growing potatoes eventually managing the Monte Vista Potato Growers Co-Op. Eldon and Jeannette retired in 2001 and moved to Colorado Springs.
Eldon was an ordained Deacon in the Southern Baptist Association and taught adult Sunday School for 12 years. Eldon was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed by his children, stepchildren, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was involved in many outdoor activities and loved spending time on his boat fishing in the Gulf of Mexico. His fondness for wordplay created a distinct Myler lexicography that will never "pisadear". Family members will continue to share countless "speriences" and funny stories involving camping, fishing, practical jokes, Santa Claus, 4th of July fireworks, and metal detecting to name just a few. All in all, he was a "Melava Hess".
Eldon was looking forward to being reunited with his mother Ava, his brother Monte Joe and his loving wife Jeannette, all of whom predeceased him. A military service at Fort Sill, Oklahoma will be held at a later date.
