William Lloyd Hicks, Jr., "Bill", age 92 of Homewood, IL, went to be with his Savior October 7, 2019. Bill retired from Ford Motor Company in Chicago Heights, IL, where he was employed as a cost analyst. Bill was a very generous man, with family as well as strangers, and he lived a life of giving to others. He was involved in numerous volunteer activities, including service in the U.S. Army during World War II, as a Sunday School teacher and Awana leader, church bus route driver, foster parent and driver for Evangelical Child and Family Agency, Meals on Wheels, SOWERs and local hospitals. Bill enjoyed traveling the country in his motor home and was also a small craft pilot.
Bill was predeceased by his beloved first wife Shirley (Nichols) Hicks, his devoted second wife Sonia (Kukurich-Kraay) Hicks and two grandsons. He is survived by his loving wife Carole (Frederickson-Kazen) Hicks, one sister: Shirley Ann (Hicks) Scudder, ten children: Gary Hicks (Kay), Diane Collins (Paul), Randy Hicks (Sandy), Denny Hicks (Sandy), Jeff Hicks (Cindee), Susan Floyd, Kathy Van Liew (Fred), Debbie Partak (Dan), Becky Dykstra (Dave) and Mike Kraay (Pam); twenty-four grandchildren, forty-four great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
A memorial service celebrating Bill's life will be held Friday, October 25 at 11:00 A.M. at Grace Fellowship Church 15150 Oak Park Avenue, Oak Forest, IL 60452. In lieu of flowers, it was Bill's wish that donations be given to Evangelical Child and Family Agency 1530 N. Main Street, Wheaton, IL 60187.
