In loving memory of William “Bill” Durkin, a drifter with a passion for horseplay and a mind sharper than a jockey’s wit. Despite his nomadic tendencies, Bill was a well-read intellect with a memory so formidable, even elephants took notes. Ironically, life dealt him a hand of dementia, challenging the steel trap upstairs.
On September 22, 1950, Bill was born to William and Mary Durkin, now reunited in eternity. His journey saw him joined by siblings Michael (Kathy), Mary Ann (Michael) Savage, and Patricia (Thomas) Skowera. Sadly, brother Robert left the track early, and though departed, his spirit gallops alongside Bill’s memory.
Childhood comrades, now mourning the loss, played the role of loyal trackside spectators. Brother Mike, a constant presence in Bill’s life, offered stability in the unpredictable race of existence.
On February 15, 2024, Bill crossed the ultimate finish line. As he saddles up for the great unknown, we remember a man who lived life like an open book – sometimes dog-eared, always compelling. Rest in peace, Bill, and may your final race be a photo finish in the grand racecourse of eternity.
