

Walter was born on January 16, 1953, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Walter and Mae (Czochara) Malinowski. He attended St. Laurence High School and later continued his education at DeVry University and National Louis University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business.
On December 31, 1985, Walter married Nancy (Lau) Malinowski. They shared more than 40 years together.
Walter spent his career with Illinois Bell, which later became AT&T, where he held many positions over the years, including serving as an Executive Director before retiring in 2005.
In retirement, Walter volunteered with the Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry, a cause he cared about and was proud to support.
Walter enjoyed traveling, golfing, and trying his luck at the casino. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family, especially his grandson.
Walter is survived by his wife, Nancy (Lau) Malinowski; his daughter, Kimberly Ann Janssen-Mendlik (David); his grandson, Logan; his sisters, Diane Miller, Ronnie Herman, and Felicia Kubiak; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Renee Gielas and Sharon Bucz, and his brothers-in-law, Gil Miller, Mike Herman Sr., and Ted Gielas.
Private services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry in Walter’s memory. Walter will be remembered for his dedication to his work, his quiet generosity, and the pride he took in his family.
