Virginia briefly attended the University of Illinois before starting her career at First National Bank in Chicago. Virginia ended her career as a Sr. Security Engineer at Conres. By far, her favorite job was being a mom.
Except for a short stint in Connecticut for work, Virginia lived her life in Illinois, but loved to travel. She went to Mexico, Canada, several countries in Europe several times, cruised the Caribbean and the Mediterranean, and traveled most of the United States. She also really enjoyed reading, cooperative board games, and D&D. She was regular host of game nights and a dungeon master for D&D.
Virginia fought three types of cancer in her life, Breast, Thyroid, and Melanoma. She was in remission for more than five years before breast cancer metastasized to her bones. Virginia fought with amazing strength and determination for several years, but ultimately lost her battle with breast cancer on June 16, 2026.
Virginia was preceded in death by her older sister Valerie Milewski. Virginia is survived by: her two daughters, Rebecca Vicktoria Lyon and Marina Catherine Lyon; her sisters Vivian Saegesser (Marc) and Veronica Milewski; her niece Stephanie Flanery (Cory), nephews Daniel Butterfield, Zachary Saegesser (Anush), Joshua Saegesser, and Elliott Milewski; and great nieces and nephew Hawthorne Flanery, Saoirse Flanery, and Celeste Flanery.
