Tito Peter Fonte, 87, entered into eternal rest February 12, 2018 from complications of Alzheimer’s disease. Tito was born October 13, 1930 in Riano, Italy and immigrated to the U.S. at age 7. He served as a quartermaster for 4 years in the U.S. Navy Seabees and was a serviceman for People’s Energy in Chicago for 33 years. He and his beloved and devoted wife, Gloria nee Stumpo, were married for 62 years. They enjoyed an active lifestyle, spending winters in Marco Island, FL and summers in the Chicago area. He will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul. Loving father of: Michael (Diane) and James (Kathryn); grandfather of: Alison (Peter) Sherwood, Lauren (Kevin) Burke, Spencer (Allison) Fonte and Brian Fonte; great-grandfather of: Corban, Mara and Haddon Sherwood and Isla and Everett Burke; brother-in-law of Dorthy Conjura; uncle of: Chester Stumpo, Frank Fonte, Gloria Jean Bovenzo, Emily Manascalchi, Loretta Pugh, Gemma Ramp, Vonda Schure and Michelle Cahil. Tito was preceded in death by his parents: Bambino and Frank Fonte; brothers: Enrico (Jean) Fonte and Peter Fonte; brothers-in-law: Joe (Rose) Stumpo, Arthur (Legia) Stumpo, Ernest (Nella) Stumpo and Pat Conjura; and sister-in-law Aida (Robert) Stuart. A funeral mass will be held Friday, May 18, 2018 at 10:30 am at St. Raphael Catholic Church, 1215 Modaff Rd., Naperville, IL followed by committal service at 1 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W.
